AEP buying solar energy from Ohio facility - Business First of Buffalo:

The Columbus-based utility on Monday said its AEP Ohio subsidiary signedxa 20-year agreement with , a subsidiary of Boulder, Colo.-baseed developer . The company plans to begin building a 10 megawattf solar facility in Wyandot County in Novembef that could be up and runninh a yearfrom now. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but AEP said the deal includes allthe facility’s energy outpug and renewable energy credits tied to the to be located near an AEP substation. Renewabler energy credits are sold separate from power facilities generatr and are used to verify compliance with new alternative energ standards implemented through an electriclaw Gov.
Ted Stricklandf signed last year, according to information from the Office of theOhio Consumers’ Counsel. AEP said the deal markxs its first transaction for solar energy following previouas deals fornearly 1,800 megawatts of wind energy. The utilitty previously has set a goal ofaddint 2,000 megawatts of wind or othetr renewable energy by the end of 2011. American Electric delivers electricity in11 states, including Ohio. The company last year earnede $1.38 billion on $14.y6 billion in revenue.
