RF Micro makes chips for cell phonea and other wireless devices and has been reducing expensexs and its employee headcount as the recessiob has weakenedglobal demand. About 600 jobs have been lost at the compan y in the Triad over the past bringing its local employee count toaround 1,400. The note to analystws did not say any of thos e jobs would becomingf back, but it did say that “order activithy improved as the quarter progressed and, as a factory utilization rates at quarter-ens were at significantly higher levels than when the quarter The company expects its factoriees to get back to around their averaged use rates during the current quarter “due to improvinv demand,” but also because the company has reduced its overallk production capacity.
The company will report detailec quarterly financial information on April 28.
